这里 sells a variety of local snacks, such as roujiamo (肉饼) and liangpi (凉皮). I tried a few stalls and found that the best place for roujiamo is at Wangfujing Street. The meat filling was juicy and flavorful, perfectly balanced with the crispy bun.
Next, I went to Muslim Quarter to taste some halal food. This area is famous for its street food, especially kebabs. There are many vendors selling different types of skewers, but I recommend trying the lamb kebab from one stall near the entrance of the quarter. The meat was tender and well-seasoned.
After lunch, I walked to Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square to try some traditional Shaanxi dishes like yangrou paomo (羊肉泡馍) and dianxiangaozi (点心肠子). Yangrou paomo is a hearty dish made with shredded mutton in a savory broth served over pieces of bread. Dianxiangaozi are small dumplings filled with pork or vegetables.
Finally, I visited Beilin Museum Area where there are many old restaurants serving traditional Shaanxi cuisine like zhajiangmian (炸酱面), which is noodles topped with fermented soybean paste sauce. Another must-try dish here is shuijianbao(水煮包子),which are steamed buns filled with fish balls in a spicy soup.
As for desserts, you can't miss trying tangyuan(汤圆)at Shuncheng Street during winter or ice cream at any street vendor in summer.
