Londons Iconic Landmarks A Guide to the Citys Most

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British monarch, is one of London's most recognizable landmarks. Located in the heart of Westminster, this grand palace has been a symbol of British power and prestige for over 200 years. Visitors can watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony outside the palace gates, which takes place daily at 11:30 am from April to July and on alternate days during other months.

The Tower of London

The Tower of London is a historic castle located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It has served as an armory, a prison, even an execution site throughout its long history. Today it is home to some amazing attractions such as Crown Jewels and Yeoman Warders (also known as Beefeaters). One must-see attraction here is The Ceremony Of The Keys that has taken place every night for over 700 years.

Big Ben & The Houses Of Parliament

Big Ben is actually not just one clock but also refers to Great Bell inside Elizabeth Tower (previously known as St Stephen's Tower) at Portcullis House in Victoria Embankment Gardens near Parliament Square in central London. This iconic tower was completed in 1859 and named after Sir Benjamin Hall who was First Commissioner for Works when it was built.

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is a famous public square located in Central London that serves as both a popular tourist destination and meeting point for locals alike with many important landmarks nearby like National Gallery which houses more than 2,300 paintings including works by Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo Buonarroti among others; St Martin-in-the-Fields church with its stunning architecture; Lord Nelson statue standing tall atop his column commemorating victory at Battle of Trafalgar where he died heroically leading Britain against combined French-Spanish fleet.
